What people are saying about Captain Johnathan Hillstrand:

I will gladly share this inspirational story with my grandchildren. Well done Captain!”
– Jerry Jones, Owner of the Dallas Cowboys
Johnathan’s book blends his love of the sea and its animals with an uplifting, can-do message for kids. My brother wants to encourage children to aim high for their dreams.”
– Captain Andy Hillstrand
My brother Johnathan has been drawing boats, cars, and animals since I can remember. The colorful characters and story in this book will have kids wanting to read it over and over again.” – Neal Hillstrand, Boat Owner/Engineer
I read this book and it had a great message — to never quit no matter how hard life gets.”
– Captain Scott Campbell Jr.
It’s truth in its simplest form.” – Jake Anderson, Deck Boss
Captain Johnathan’s second book, The Adventures of Joey and Andy Crabs, is terrific. Like his first book, it has important messages to live by. Both books are a fun read for children and adults alike. Keep them coming!” – Big Brian May
It’s great to see Johnathan use these special talents. Who knew a fishing boat captain could write and draw while sailing on the rocky waters of the Gulf of Alaska? Even more special is that these are stories that can be life lessons for children to learn from.”
– Capt. Jon Burgess, Vice Mayor, Homestead, FL
Captain Johnathan has done outstanding work drawing on his experience in one of the toughest jobs on the planet; to write and illustrate a fun children’s story with an underlying message. I have to admit, I was a little worried when the kids went above the surface in the crab pot! All’s well that ends well...now if only the Hillstrand boys could stay out of trouble. Well done, Johnathan!” – Kevin Ingram, Co-host, Wake Up Zone, WGFX-FM, Nashville
Captain Johnathan’s talents are a wonderful surprise. I didn’t know he could write and draw! I really liked it, read it to the granddaughter. She thought it was neat. We are ready to read the next one and we are looking forward to many more “Adventure” books from the sea.”
– Eric Esch (“Butterbean”), former IBA and WAA Super Heavy Weight Champion
Life lessons that are good for young and old. Love your family. Work hard and achieve your dreams! Great lessons from Johnathan’s books!”
– Mike Solomon, Fireworks Over America, Hall of Fame Quarterback Missouri Western
Bought all three of Johnathan’s books for my youngest grandson as his Daddy is a boat captain in the Florida Keys. We love the bright colorful illustrations and the lesson in the stories!” – Karen Dickens
GOD BLESS THE HILLSTRANDS AND KEEP THEM SAFE, ALWAYS! Keep sharing your gifts with the world! Love your books, your occupation and your ability to share all with the world!”
– Leslie Keebler
My two-year-old Granddaughter loves this book. It is the first book she grabs for me to read to her.” – Tamie Lewis
Purchased trilogy for my four-year-old grandson. He loves them. I highly recommend these books! Mr. Hillstrand is on Deadliest Catch the Captain of the Time Bandit. He wrote and illustrated the books.” – Jeran Blackburn
Loved this little book. Johnathan put his down time to good use. I loved the drawings and the sweet little story. Each character is well-known to me from watching the Deadliest Catch. The book will eventually go to my grandchildren, but I am still enjoying it. Thank you to all the fisherman who share their lives with me via TV. I am 73, can’t swim a stroke, in poor health but the time I spend on your (Deadliest Catch) boat, I am one of you. Thank you, Thank you. The characters just jump off the page, and I know what voice to use when reading to my little ones. Keep the stories coming. Write some more books, children’s and grown-up books. I love crab and any other seafood, and as I enjoy my seafood meal, I say a silent thank you to all you brave fishermen. Happy fishing!” – Anonymous
So cute! Love the character’s names (all taken from the show, with little bits of their personalities showing through). The moral of the story seems to be that you can be whatever you want if you don’t give up and are willing to work for it.” – Tonie
